Amazon Accounting FAQs

An Amazon seller accountant specialise in the business models of Amazon sellers, and the types of businesses (eg. dropshippers) that sell on the platform.

We do much more than simply look after your books. Your business as an Amazon seller or Amazon FBA seller needs an accountant with industry knowledge. An Amazon accountant understands the complex eCommerce environment, helping you find opportunities for tax efficiency improvements and correctly reporting your VAT.

As experienced Amazon accountants, we can help you set up a new company, simplify your accounts, create tailored strategies for growth, including profit maximisation and more. However, you could find you’re struggling to keep on top of balancing your finances as an Amazon seller. In that case, you need a specialised Amazon accountant.

We understand the requirements of the Amazon platform and the new eCommerce VAT rules introduced in January 2021 in the UK and July 2021 in the EU. We’re also well-informed about the best accountancy software and other time-saving tools to help you increase business efficiency.

You can also check out our latest Amazon Accounting Guide for latest information for free.

We recommend Quickbooks and Xero for several reasons. First, they integrate easily into a wide range of eCommerce marketplaces, including Amazon. Second, as a result, they offer a significant depth of connections.

As part of our service for new businesses, we’ll set up your eCommerce accounting software, so you have access to real-time information. This functionality makes it easier to understand your cash flow and manage your finances.

You can sell on Amazon without registering for VAT if you’re based in the UK, sell all your products in the UK, and your turnover is under £85,000.

However, you may want to avoid any potential missteps when selling internationally. In that case, we can help your business with VAT registration and your VAT liabilities.

The Import One Stop Shop (IOSS) scheme applies from 1st July 2021 in the EU and allows vendors to collect VAT at the point of sale. As a deemed supplier, it’s the responsibility of Amazon to get the VAT right by acting as a seller on your behalf and collecting VAT at the point of sale.

As an Amazon seller, you’ll need to use this IOSS number on your customs form to ensure items shipped into the EU aren’t hit with extra charges. While this can seem challenging, we can help you ensure your Amazon business is compliant and set up correctly. In addition, our services will help you avoid any VAT issues with your customers.

There is no minimum contract term required for our clients – all our contracts are on a rolling monthly basis, meaning there are no large and potentially unexpected fees usually associated with high-street accountants.

Our fixed-fee pricing structure means that what is included in each level of plan is clear and transparent and you can clearly budget for accountancy costs.

As a remote UK-based Amazon accountant firm, we don’t waste money on physical office space. Instead, we invest in the best tools available to deliver a value-added and cost-effective service wherever you are.

Our team of qualified ICAEW chartered accountants communicate via phone, email and video call, or you can book a free thirty-minute consultation whenever suits you. This flexibility means we’re available whenever you need our expertise in eCommerce accounting to support your business.

As ICAEW chartered accountants, we’re at the cutting edge of accountancy and understand the challenges Amazon sellers face. But, unlike traditional accountants, it’s the quality of our advice and our understanding of the eCommerce environment that really sets us apart and makes us the right fit for Amazon sellers.
